Xbox 360 problems, help please?

ok. i just got an xbox 360 about 3-4 days ago. i also bought call of duty: world at war. me and my friends were playing it for kinda long amounts at a time (6-7 hours?) and it was set on a carpet, and not a flat surface or anything. also, this was probably a mistake but, while the disc was in the xbox and it was turned on, i picked up the xbox and was starting to put it verticallly, when it started making a really weird noise so i just put it back. so now, when i play the game, on certain missions, when the other soldiers are talking, they say a few words and then their sentences just get cut off. this has nothing to do with xbox live, i dont even have that set up yet. do you think this has something to do with my xbox possibly overheating, or maybe the disc got scratched? what should i do?

  1. The problem is with the disk itself because according to microsoft the 360 disk tray doesnt have bumper thingies to keep the disk in place so when you turned it sideways the disk was most likely scratched. That happened to my Halo3 disk and it has a big scratch going all the way around the disk in a circle. You should check your disk for scratches and it its not with the disk try buying one of the dvd lens cleaner disks and try that. If that doesnt work, you might want to contact microsoft.

P.S CoD WaW is not included, but microsoft has a disk replacement program should it happen to another of your games:

  2. Probably a combination of the 2.

NEVER put it on carpet, treat it like a computer. Put it up on a shelf in a place it can get plenty of ventilation.

Now that you’ve probably scratched the hell out of that disc you’ll need to get a new one if you want the problems to stop. Don’t move the console with a disc in the drive.

  3. SCRATCHED DISC. You could have your local video rental store proffessionally buff it for a couple of bucks and you will be good as new. See the video below.

  4. Your disc is scratched because you moved the xbox when the disc was playing. This has happened to me before and there are a couple of ways to fix the problem. The easiest way would be to rent the game and download it to your console. This will allow you to play the scratched disc because most of the information is stored on the hard-drive now. You can do this by selecting the game and clicking download to console. This takes up a lot of memory but will work as long as you use a working disc to download. Another way that works sometimes is to buy Skip Doctor. This will work sometimes and it costs around 30 bucks. You can buy this at Staples.
