One of the best consoles in the market is plagued by a very common problem – YLOD (or Yellow Light Of Death). YLOD is caused due to overheating.
In any case, now that you’re a victim of YLOD you’re left with 2 choices:
I’ll suggest you give it to Sony if your console is still under warrantyGive it to Sony to get it fixed:
You can give your console to Sony and let them repair it. They will charge you around $150, on top of that you need to pay for tax and shipping charges too. Usually you can get your console back in 2-4 weeks but it can take more than a month in some cases.
Sony will clean all the data off your HDD so essentially there will be nothing left on your HDD when you get it back from Sony. They give you a warranty of 3 months which means if you get YLOD again in 3 months since when they repaired it, Sony will repair it for free.
There’s no guarantee though that it won’t happen again, many people have faced YLOD again.
Fix your PS3 on your own
This is the best option since its cheap and fast. The ps3 will be easy to implement once you get a good guide to refer to since it will essentially eliminate all the guess work.
You can see all the steps in videos and pictures and can fix your ps3 in less than an hour. You won’t have to wait for weeks. Also, you don’t have to pay $150 to Sony every time you face YLOD.
One of the greatest thing about doing it yourself is that you don’t have to pay hefty charges to the big companies. Also, you don’t have to wait for weeks, you’ll completely fix [url not allowed] in no more than a few hours. Many people have already successfully fixed yellow light of death and I don’t see a reason why you won’t be able to do it. If my PS3 has yellow light of death then I won’t pay Sony to repair my PS3. I’d rather [url not allowed] for free myself.
